The importance of including evaluation as a part of your planning when undertaking a safety promotion or injury prevention campaign was one of the key points made by evaluation expert Anthony Morgan during a VSCN-hosted webinar.

Mr Morgan is the Australian Institute of Criminology’s Research Manager for the Crime Prevention and Evaluation Research program and joined Fiona Dowsley, the Victorian Crime Statistics Agency’s Chief Statistician on the hour-long webinar.

Hume’s Safe Community status comes of age

Hume is celebrating 21 years of being an internationally accredited Safe Community this year, which makes it Australia’s longest serving Safe Community and the fourth longest serving in the world, outside of Sweden.

Preventing dog bites

Each year, about 13,000 people attend hospital emergency departments in Australia for dog bite injuries. Children under the age of five are most at risk, and are most frequently bitten by their own family dog or by a friend’s dog, usually in or around the home.
